WikiGardening is the practice of grooming the contents of the wiki. Like gardening in your home, this can be rewarding and relaxing in itself, and puts the WikiGardener in touch with the rhythms of the wiki. For example, after a period of rapid growth there may be ...
- duplicate pages that should be trained back together,
- false starts that must be pruned,
- disorderly growth that needs to be balanced by new pages to reassert the InformationArchitecture or links from established sections of the wiki,
- poorly parented pages that need to be reaffixed in the PageHierarchy by reparenting, and
- old text that needs to be trimmed to reveal the new growth within individual pages.
When gardening within the page a system for attribution must be established for the wiki. One common WikiPractice is to mark sections with the WikiName of their author, and to demarcate periods of edits by horizontal rules.
