WHAT THE ?
This an interior image of my proposal for a childcare centre. When I first presented the scheme with this image to my friends, they said what a bloody****** who design concrete walls for a childcare centre.
UUUHHHHH !
I took up the challenge with of course the help of Inger - technical adviser & experienced mum to convince this space will somehow work as a childcare and few guys from Channel 9 DIY TV show – colour chart advised, HA !. I basically try turning this hard surfaced tormented space into a more cosy children friendly space. The most obvious transformation is the change of materiality and colours. I think that itself played a significant role, the space is now soften down by the used of warm colours and tactility of diffrent materials
Now the materials and colours are reconcile to achieve a children friendly space.
My thougths of how to make it as realistic as possible?
1) Must have a good idea where the main source lighting coming from and rest of the lighting within the space that help to lid the rest of the interior must complement the main source.
2) Not to have too many focal points in an image. I think I have two focal points which are a little congested to me for a small image with objects going horizontally and vertically.
3) Be cautious of continuous material on a plane, treatment is necessary e.g. my ceiling used to have a flat continuous tile concrete ceiling which is WIERD FOR A REALISTIC IMAGE. Either modified it in Photoshop or take the back door like I did, obstruct the ceiling with another materials. Make sure materials used is relevant to other materials within the interior image.
4) Use artificial lighting if space is poorly lighted by natural lighting. Artificial lighting can kill the realistic image if not treated well. I took advantage of the artificial lighting to be a feature in lighting up a pattern wall with a little twig with the spotlight settings.
5) Human scale to determine the scale and proportion of the objects and space, I used a monotone human figure that I’ve changed the opacity in Photoshop to keep the space as a primary attention.
