Exterior Renders: The two Exterior renderings, taken from a worms eye view where to show the ceiling on the exterior and showing the weathered stone around the building. The worms eye view was used to bring a heroic quality to the image and to emphasise the monolithic scale of such structures.
Lighting: The main light for the external shots comes from direct light which is aimed low, so as to give an evening feel to the scene. Omni lights were added to the top and bottom of the scene, creating the effect of bounced light. All lights were given a subtle orange colour to create the ambience of evening light. A negative omni was used to counter the bright light which developed under the externally exposed roof.

Interior Rendering A: This rendering was created to show the depth of the interior. The water in the pool in the corner and the flames in the torches were created with the aid of Photoshop. The statue (Hercules firing an arrow) in the bottom left corner was added using Photoshop and the Hue, Saturation and colour levels needed to be adjusted to make it look believable. The light from the torches was achieved through the use of spotlights and we adjusted the hotspot/beam value (to around 20) and the falloff/field value (to around 179.5) to give the soft glows.

Interior Rendering B: This rendering is taken form above the shallow pool over looking the entrance, with external evening light spilling through the front entrance. Spot lights were used to create the glow within the building. Two omni’s on the ceiling created the shadows showing the difference in materials used. Again the pool water, reflections, statues and flames were added with Photoshop. We opened the door in this shot because we felt the scene was too constricted otherwise.
