- Notes/Interpretations Extracted From William's Project Statement
*Sustainability - Self Sufficient Stance is the fundamental essence of the project
*Pleasant Air Temperature = Pleasant Environment. Focused on Cooling whic is cool when sun hits the site. We need to think of it's alternative function like when there is no sun. Wind Chill Factor/ Winter time, so maybe warming the surface up with a harnessed energy supply e solar panels etc
*Dependent on Elements: Water, Wind and Sun etc these can probably help us determine form
Water to Fuel Scheme
Wind to make scheme work, but also block wind from blowing pleasant air temperature away needs to be localised*Analogy of Human Skin - Goose Bumps, hairs. A possible adpativve surfac. Perspiration the natural evaporation ideology. Do we leave the tile surface static or is it responsive maybe operable
*Direction of the Tile Shape/ arrangment can make application more effective. This I think we can link this back to the idea of trying to keep the pleasant air localised within the area, when wind blows along the rib of the tile the air flow will be smooth but whe the wind blows across the ribs the air flow will be turbulent and more likely to linger locally. So we could utilise this idea to setout the tiles dependent on how the winds moving through the site and potentially where the structures can be incorporated. What do you guys think? We need to be strategic in setting out the tiles I believe?
*Larger Surface Area = More Effective
*Plant Characteristics analogy of levaes turn and changing direction in response to sun to tile is more appropriate for the structure which can rotate and work within a 3d axis. Operable Structure that responds to sun etc as the site is freezing when there isn't any sun like the other morning but when the sun is out you want shade but you need sun fo evaporation. Maybe Daniel the exploding facet idea we were talking about couldwork well with this similar to conept of leaves on a brach etc
*Site is very limited to Sun Light at particular moments such as lo level sun. So can't rely on sun in winter, early morning or late afternoon.
*Project Fringes need more working/bleeding into existing conditions ie storm water could be further examined and utilised
*The original Tile is dependent on being a flat Surface, but the site has a natural gradation to it
*In orginal scheme water is intended to be static, yet with angulating site we need to test ways of continuing this idea or reworking the concept. Moving water will be easier to keep clean, but William in his text said the design is not intended for constant circulation. I'm interested in rethinking this idea, probably make it easier to work with angulating site and possibly more poetic to walk across ie sounds of trickling water is a "pleasant" sound
*
sun shelteris to tunnel breezes into site but possibly could tunnel them out of the site ie taking the pleasant air temperature away. Yet this could subtley work within the bleeding the fringes idea in a non physical manner enticing people walking past to come into the pleasant breeze area*We probaly need to analyse sun across the site - what angles above spencer st station and times and the liberty apartments on the corner. Wind directions through the site.
*Make the shceme functionally usable for when there is so sunlight accessing the site. Maybe making it a warmer zone if it's cold or maintain the cool if it humid etc
*I think we've got enough things to look at generating form ie water catchments etc
