- Discussion | What would my Pre-major be?
-
What should i do with my pre-major?
My interest and background lies towards the Virtual Edge, the digital dark morbid stylized images of asymptope.
Fluid, flowing transperant objects, "animalised"... Yet, i dont want to be a "nurbs" baby..
In one sense, I'm pretty sicked of blobs for the moment. (Been doing too much of it at one stage)
- Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality Realtime Engines is one of my focus points for research. I have 2 years of experience in using game engines for architectural designs.
However this brings forth another question ... does it connect to architecture? Is it just software?
- Pros | VR Realtime Environments Research as my Pre-major Focus
- Sound
The addition of Sound. Sound is an element forgoteen in architects. Sound becomes a Post-production Phase.
Where in fact, Sound / Sonar experience is 60% - 70% of all visual experience. Understanding the experience of
architecture through a simulated realtime environment would be a powerful designing tool for architects of the
future. - Realtime Environments
Computing power in this age have reached a stage where Realtime environments could be run on a regular laptop.
What this means is that practically most computers that architects currently use, would be able to run a Realtime
Virtual Environment without additional cost/hardware.
Another aspect to this, is most architectural firms have completly became "digital" where they are all building 3D
models in design developements. If we have 3D structures in data format, why cant we use a software to view it in
a realtime environment.

Would it be a built?

- Thoughts after Pre-major
- Discussion
Keep it simple .. Why do we need interfaces .. What can a user experience on a journey.
Does it become to complicated. The ideas .. Becareful or romanticizing the "mutiple camera" situation
Think of Asymptope : Gehry Museum + NYSE .. Interfaces that function within a space, work in the background - Things to do for next week
- Grab plans of the old Spencer St. Station. How the railroads merge to the city.
- Understand the streetscape | Pictures at different times of the day | how it works with the bus terminals
- Data, data, more data | train schedules | bus schedules | tram schedules | Mapping a virtual schedule
- Future Plans for the docklands | Research on how it will develop | Think! How it will all work together
- Of tangent a little | Dive into the idea of Terminals within the essay Terminal 2098 where it becomes a box
- Develop a system .. or try to develop a system that merges the hard data from all the Terminals
