FINAL PROJECT SEMINAR - SEMESTER 1, 2003
Julian Raxworthy
This site is for students to put down their critiques and notes form in class crits of each others work, as well as for anything else they want to do.
What's the minimum:
The minimum is not about amount on wall - it's about transformation (i started here, i am now here, i have come this far in my proposal) and inertia (your project escalation with it's own momentum/inertia...there is a way forward, strong sense of project). Ideation...all about what's in your head. More sophistication than when started. An interesting angle for a way forward.
- 15/5 - no class
- 22/5 - class
- 29/5 - appointments
- 5/6 - no class
- 12/6 - ammended proposal and appointments (afternoon)
- 17/6 - presentations
1/5 PB wrote: Julian following your comment in class yesterday ... that it is not too late to change topics ... yesterday I was talking to John Fenton from Hamilton. He was asking me whether I knew any student who might be interested in working with the aboriginal community at Lake Condah - western district of Vic - who are essentially master planning there historic sites areas of roaming. The aboriginals of Lake Condah are the only known example of an pre-white aboriginal tribe who used permanent settlements and who manipulated / engineered the landscape to assist them in hunting / gathering. The site is close to gaining National Heritage listing and may in the not too distant future become a applicant for World Heritage listing.
Just thought I note this for those who might be interested.
8/5 - 9.20pm while waiting for huge Iluustrator files to save Helen and Paul discovered the definition for inertia - We think Teresa's scientific definition may be correct when used scientifically, but when used to describe final project, inertia is the antithesis of progress:
INERTIA: // noun 1. inert condition; inactivity; sluggishness. 2. Physics the tendency of matter to retain its state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line. [Latin: lack of skill, inactivity]? --inertial, adjective Macquarie Dictionary
