ASSIGNMENT 3
Sustainability sun shading model.
The aim was to minimise sunlight into the building in summer and to maximise it in winter, while maintaining views out of the building.

EXTENDED EXERCISE

Introduction.
I looked further into sustainability with an exercise considering sun shading for LAB's Federation Square.
My investigation took a glass facade of the building and aimed to incorporate an external sun shading system that was complementary to the existing fractal design.
As in the previous sun shading exercise, the aim was to minimise sunlight in during summer and to maximise sunlight in during winter, maintaining views out of the building.

Testing of thick facade.
This thicker facade was determined optimal for shading capabilities.

Conclusion.
As stated, the thicker facade proved optimal, if it was not considered a hinderance to the the design. As shown with the internal images, the design was enhanced inside
the building with the shading casting greater shadows from the fractal facade on the internal walls and floors.

This investigation could be further extended, adjusting the thickness across the shading system in relation to the shading requirements.

That's the lot. Thanks for taking the time to have a look.

Have a nice day,
